Yorkshire housebuilder, Harron Homes, has donated £250 to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, a charity very close to residents at Harron’s Far Grange Meadows development in Selby.
Jacque Darlow and Diane Stephenson have been assisting the charity as volunteer puppy trainers since 2019 and when they brought the valuable work of hearing dogs to the attention of Harron sales executive Sandra, she was certain Harron would want to help. Established in 1982, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf now has almost 1,000 working hearing dog partnerships across the UK. They carefully match dogs with deaf partners to provide a newfound sense of independence and confidence alongside practical assistance. Each dog costs about £40,000 to train and support over its lifetime so donations are immensely welcome.
Alison Taylor-Shaw, Sales and Marketing Director for Harron Homes Yorkshire said, “Harron is all supporting local causes in our communities, and we’re really glad that Jacque and Diane brought this incredibly valuable cause to our attention to give us the opportunity to also contribute to changing a deaf person’s life. “We’re delighted that they’ve settled into life at Far Grange Meadows with puppy Axel, and look forward to regular pup-dates!” Visit https://www.hearingdogs.org.uk/ for more information on Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and to make a donation.
